Reliable internet connection; for sessions and viewing assignments
Zoom platform (it's free for you)
Computer or Phone webcam and microphone, built-in are perfectly fine!
Wireless headset/earbuds recommended for communicating with me during sessions when you're across the room from your device
If using a phone, please have a phone stand
Specific course-related equipment. Each course comes with an equipment list.
Please dress ready to work and learn. No pajamas please! (Sweatpants are okay if it's what you can tolerate) :)
If your dog is black, please don't wear black or dark colored pants. It makes it hard to see the dog.
Please don't wear stripes, polka dots, or paisley patterns. Part of my disability impacts my eyes, and these patterns are all known to trigger pain, eye tremors, head pain, dizziness, and nausea when I have to look at them for longer than 5 minutes. Flickering lights has a similar impact on me.
Minimum starting equipment for dog: training collar (slip, dominant dog, or prong) and a 6 ft leash
Space to Train - At least 5ft of open floor space to work in during class time
Ability to Video Record - I ask that you get a small digital camera for recording homework, or have space on your phone for videos. This won't be necessary for every lessons, but I will occasionally ask you to record exercises so I can see your progress.
Time - A typical training session will last 1 - 3 hours, occasionally going to 3h 30m for more advanced training. This is to ensure that all material for each stage is understood. Outside of weekly or bi-weekly sessions, you need to find time to watch additional learning videos, and work with your dog on a daily basis. The time commitment changes depending on your lifestyle and routines; something we will go over in your initial consult.
